Dave,
The latest version in the market won’t install because it wasn’t signed correctly.
Also. I was able to download the scriptures directly to my G1 by browsing to your scriptures download and long pressing on the download link and choosing “save link” Then i just had to choose the new location from within your scriptures app.
Thanks again for such a helpful app
I followed the instructions and the application works good for me. This si very useful and im sure it will stay on my main page as a shortcut.
Do u have the niv version available for download?
Great app! Thanks
Anthony
I installed the app and it works great. Keep up the good work! My only recommendation is to allow the user to select the scripture by clicking on each cell instead of having to click directly over the name. In other words, expand the active click area to span across the screen. Since you already have the horizontal lines showing I think it would make it easier.
Great suggestion Ray. I also intend to expand the vertical space for the selection as well. I personally have trouble selecting the correct scripture with such a narrow band to touch, and I know my fingers are not that fat.
Awesome app. thank you so much may God in his infinite mercy continues to bless u and showers his favors on you. will there be an update if there is another version of the bible available? like niv, nlt and what does it take to get different versions installed? thanks.
I was hoping I wouldn’t have to program this app but I wasn’t sure if there was enough of an lds following of android to get the lds canon of scriptures. You’ve saved me big time!
One pretty easy suggestion: you should be able to swipe left for previous and right for next for chapters, instead of having to go to the menu. It seems logical to me (like in the calendar app). What do you think?
Also, you could utilize scrolling in the top frame listing three chapters at a time. When you scroll left it goes to the previous chapter, right to the next (this would be in place of the breadcrumb view). Then use menu to allow a book, chapter, verse view (like calendar equivalent of month, week, day views). This way you use finger scrolling and less need for such fine detail touching.
I can’t wait for the other updates you mention (highlighting, bookmarks, etc) Great app. Thanks a ton.
I was able to get this on my G1, but when I tried to put the same scriptures.db file on my wife’s G1, I get the error “Invalid Database, Do you wish to download a database…..” I’ve redownloaded the same scriptures.db 5 times, tried tethered and direct to phone. Reinstalled the app itself, same error? Any advice?
Thanks for the interest. I hope my explanation in the 0.2.6 post clarifies what has happened in the last two versions of the app.
Essentially, the database changed and I added the ability to download updated versions or additional databases with out needing to download a completely different app. The database changes make later version incompatible with older databases.
My G1 does not have an option to select “use for usb storage” .
Do you have a link to the new scriptures DB so I can download it directly? The download option from the phone fails over and over again.
The list of the scriptures is obtained dynamically by the software from the following URL: http://scriptures.digitalbias.com/scripture_list.xml
This allows for dynamic updates of the works people can download without having to rewrite the software. You can choose whatever version of the database you would like by finding the url from the xml file and then downloading that file.
It also provides the potential for other databases to be hosted on other servers besides scriptures.digitalbias.com, however the primary list would still be maintained on the scriptures site.
