My challenge has been being able to support all the different devices out there. Have you looked at the LDS Gospel Library app? It can do 'night' mode, which would not be as hard on the eyes.

Scriptures was one of the first apps I downloaded when I got my first Droid. Yesterday, I got a new Android phone and wanted to add Scriptures to it. It was the best scripture app I could find, partly because I could read with a black background and white letters and that didn't hurt my eyes. I really wish you would reconsider your decision. Lots of people don't need or want all the bells and whistles more complicated apps provide. I just need something simple and easy to use.

I have a Droid A855 (standard Verizon Droid) and I was getting runtime errors when loading, databases could never be downloaded, and I couldn't run the program. Thanks to google, I found the solution here!! :D
1. Download the app in the marketplace on your droid
2. Download LDS.db above on the computer
3. Connect the droid to your computer, set for USB storage (don't forget the proper drivers!! Win7 users, that's done automagically for you ;) )
4. Go to your sdcard (the root folder) and then navigate to the "scriptures" folder
5. Place the downloaded LDS.db in that folder
6. On the droid: Turn off USB mode
7. Unplug the USB cable (just for kicks)
8. In the scriptures app: Press the menu button and go to "Preferences"
9. In "Database Location" change the scriptures.db to LDS.db
10. Press OK and you're done!! :D
11. Enjoy the full LDS Standard Works!!

Note to publisher: First off, THANK YOU FOR THIS APP!!!! Second, I would love to beta test for you so we can solve little problems like this BEFORE it's released!! ;) The big problem with this version was that it looks for scriptures.db in the DB Location, but it should be looking for LDS.db instead. Plus the download DB function in the app doesn't work, maybe find a new server for that?

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU again!!! :D :D :D

This newest version won't install to my backflip. Version 0.3.1 installs fine. Haven't tested it yet.

When I try to install 0.4.1 I get:
sudo ./adb install ~/Downloads/scriptures-041.apk
557 KB/s (81350 bytes in 0.142s)
	pkg: /data/local/tmp/scriptures-041.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK]
I think it's because my brand new phone is running Android 1.5. Motorola says this about the upgrade timeline: "Upgrade under evaluation" :(

After having installed Scriptures for the first time, it asks if I want to download a bible, I agreed, and after it was done, I got a blank screen. To continue I had to manually point Scriptures to the downloaded file. (/sdcard/bible/bible.db)
When reading the bible for the first time, pressing the 'Home' button crashed Scriptures, haven't seen the bug since though.
